Happy Birthday Sir David Attenborough!

Got to take a quick break from Sherlock month to wish naturalist David Attenborough a Happy Birthday! (March 8th–and he’s 88, wow.)

One of these days I’ll get around to posting my review of his audiobooks, which are fabulous.  His whole body of work, really, is excellent, and Attenborough basically re-invented the “nature documentary”, influencing the attitude of generations of people towards the world around them for the better–myself included.

The Great Sherlock Holmes Endeavor! 2nd Annual

(Wherein I will make a pot of coffee and endeavor to watch a lot of Sherlock Holmes, and it will be great!)

Once again, to honor the birthday of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, May 22nd, I am going to devote this month to adaptations of Sherlock Holmes stories.

Last year I covered some of the basics, including my introduction to the world of Holmes, The Great Mouse Detective, and the actor who I still consider to be the definitive Holmes, Jeremy Brett.

This year I plan to deal with, among other things, the controversial Robert Downey Jr. films, and the more dignified Murder by Decree.

So stay tuned, and as always, if you have any recommendations, let me know!
